Location for this week’s Beaver Meeting (Central Park)

Hi Beaver Families:

Please find attached a map showing the Beaver Scout Meeting Location for this Thursday. We will be meeting at Central Park, near the lower pond. Please note: we will be going for a walk in the park, so do not be late and please email me to tell me if you are not coming. As always, beavers should have gone to the toilet before arrival and bring water they can carry on their walk.

Upcoming Events:

Edmonds Community Cleanup – This Saturday, May 25

Sailing Lesson – Saturday, June 1, @ Jericho

White Tails Camp – Saturday June 8 (Deas Island)

Going-Up Ceremony/End of Year Celebration – Thursday June 20

White Tails:

The White Tail Community Project is a set of activity bags for children waiting for medical tests/procedures or undergoing dialysis. The white tails made lists of things they would like to include. Some youth intend to draw pictures or bring printouts of mazes or other colouring pages from the internet. Markers, crayons, or other drawing/colouring objects and stickers were also on their lists. Please have your Beaver Scout bring their contributions to our outdoor meeting this Thursday, May 23. Scouter Rosie will arrange to make photocopies of activity pages, and we will put together the bags at our meeting on May 30. May 30th is the final deadline for any final things the youth might want to include.

Thanks Everyone!

Registration Information for 2019-2020 Scouting Year

Dear Beaver Families,

Early registration for returning scouts begins today. This is to register for next year’s Beavers or Cubs, starting in September 2019.

From May 1 until May 14, registration is open for returning members only to register in our group for the upcoming 2019/2020 Scouting year. Here is instruction on how to register: https://help.scouts.ca/hc/en-ca/articles/204192444-How-to-Register-your-Child-as-a-Returning-Participant-

Register for Beavers if your child is in Kindergarten (age 5) through Grade 2 (age 7)

Register for Cubs if your child is in Grade 3 (age 8) through Grade 5 (age 10)

On May 15th, the system will be open to the General Public for new members, including siblings of current youth, to join. We encourage you to register siblings as soon as possible on May 15 to ensure they have a space. When general registration is open, we expect spots to fill up fast.

From May 1 to June 30th the fee for Early Registration is $230.

From July 1 to December 31, the fee for Registration is $260.

If you need financial assistance for fees, please apply for the No One Left Behind (NOLB) subsidy program: http://www.scouts.ca/program/no-one-left-behind/ . If you are subsidized by NOLB, please let me know as we can use this program to offset the cost of camps and other aspects of your child’s scouting experience.

New Refund Policy: you will be eligible for a 100% refund up to 30 days after registration.

As we do not know yet if all of our amazing volunteers are able to make it back next year, we ask all of you to consider if you can step up to be a full-time volunteer, part-time volunteer, weekend activity leader, camp or kitchen helper, or take an administrative role on our group committee. Please consider registering as a Volunteer! Here’s how to get started: http://prairies.scouts.ca/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/myscouts-RegisterSelf-Volunteer.pdf

Thanks everyone!
