Hi Beaver Families,
Firstly I’d like to note a schedule change if you are using the scoutstracker calender: Winter Fun Day has been moved to Sunday, February 24. I will be sending out a signup email soon for this event. Please take advantage of any remaining winter gear sales and ensure your youth has: insulated winter boots, a good, warm, winter coat, snow pants, winter mittens or gloves, and a good winter hat.
Tomorrow, February 7: We are continuing our work on the Emergency Skills 1 badge. Any youth who have already achieved this stage will be helping out with leadership activities tomorrow. For tomorrow’s meeting: Please have your youth bring back their first aid kits that they made last week, and ensure the emergency contact information is filled in. Where the sheet said “Friend” this means an ADULT who would be able to help the youth should neither of the other emergency contacts be available. Please also work with your child to ensure he or she can recite from memory: home address, parent’s name and cell phone number.
Thursday February 14: We are doing some Winter Skills on that day. All youth must bring in the winter gear they would be wearing at winter fun day (whether they will be coming or not). This is our opportunity to assess whether the youth will be warm enough for a half-day on Seymour mountain.
Tuesday February 19: 1st Southwest Baden Powell Banquet from 630 to 9pm. We ask that anyone who can help set up or clean up please be prepared to do so. You are asked to bring your own Plates and cutlery for this meal. Normally each youth may bring one adult with them. This is a celebratory dinner. there will be no meeting Thursday February 21.
Sunday February 24: Winter Fun Day on Seymour – youth will be having fun in the snow with other Burnaby beavers, including snowshoeing, sledding, and using their winter skills.
See you tomorrow!
