Hello Everyone!

Wow! Bottle Rockets were SO much fun tonight! As promised, here is the information sheet on how to do these at home. 🙂

For the Picnic: Please join us at Central Park on next Thursday for our final ceremony, games and treats. I attach the map showing the details of our meeting location. This is a family event.

I regret to announce that our proposed hike on Saturday is CANCELLED. Unfortunately not enough children signed up for this hike. And the weather is NOT our friend for this Saturday. It is going to rain quite a bit and be cold, which will not be as pleasant and we won’t get a good view at the top. We will have to hike another time.

A reminder that your scouters, Craig Aspinall, Timothy Hammond, Natalie Whitcroft, Paola Fairey and myself, Rosie Sill, are all volunteers. If any of the scouter team have contributed to your children’s experience in a positive way, if your children have had a special time in Beaver Scouts this year that you would like to acknowledge, please THANK A SCOUTER to tell us about it!

Hi Beaver Families,

This is an initial notification to you that we are commencing early registration for the 2016/2017 Scouting Year.

New families are visiting our group and may want to ask you questions from a parent’s perspective. Please help out the Scouters and share what information you can with new families, including translation if they need it.

Here are some important dates:

May 26 Regular Meeting – Pre-Filled Renewal forms will be ready for pickup at the front desk. Check that your form is correct and if you are coming back please sign and attach a cheque for $215 (made out to 1SW Burnaby Scouts Canada). Your Returning Beaver has priority registration until June 2.

White Tail moving up to Cubs? I STRONGLY recommend you submit your form and payment on May 26. The Cub group knows you are moving up but there is a lot of interest.

Younger Kindergarten-age Sibling wants to join? Please fill out a form for the child and submit it and payment at the same time as your renewal. https://www.myscouts.ca/files/reg/forms/2016_2017/scouts_participant_registration_en.pdf

June 2 Regular Meeting – Last chance for priority registration of returning members – bring in your signed renewal and registration fee. All remaining spots in our group will be first come first served.

June 9 Regular Meeting – Last opportunity to submit your form for early registration. Any remaining spots will be wait-listed and registered in September.

Reminders…

Returning scouts that will be school grade 3 / Age 8 in September will be moving up to CUB Scouts. They meet on Tuesdays from 7pm-830 in the upstairs part of our hall.

All Scouts kindergarten-grade 2 / ages 5-7 in September will be in Beaver Scouts.

Financial assistance is available, please speak to Scouter Rosie.

Our entire group is run by volunteer parents just like you and it’s really fun to have adventures with the kids and see them grow and learn. If you think you can help out with safety and crafts at most meetings or a couple meetings a month, please let me know and we can start the volunteer registration process.
